as for now, all i hear in my head is tick tock, tick tock, tick tock...

got any tums?

Oh my, the anxiety continues to grow and grow and grow. This is some serious stuff for Caren and I. We are both friendly, social type of people, but putting ourselves (and stuff we make) out there is making us very nervous. I feel like every night after the kiddies go to sleep I race to get as many things done as possible. It was just a few months ago that this all started and now I feel like I have to show up with an entire store worth of my items! I know that isn't really true, but I do feel like we need to make a good first impression. Not only is this our first show but it is also the very first Indie Market ever! Last night I decided to give up when I became too tired ( I never like to admit that I am too tired). Andrew helped me realize it was time to quit by pointing out that there was a lot of yelling coming from the dining room (where I have set up shop). Things just weren't going my way!! :)

Anyways, Saturday should be very exciting and interesting. Please wish us luck!

I also began another blog about polkadotbug (my stuff) for everyone to check out. When I have some free time (hmmm....) I am going to try and post a tutorial there about the reversible dresses. You like my reversible pants?!?!
Caren is in the process of setting up her own blog too, so we both have individual blogs about our creations and how you can see them. Make sure you visit her at pinkelefantcaren!
Gosh we are busy gals!!

busy night... or should i say nights

so tina and i had another "sewing night" on saturday. believe it or not we got a LOT accomplished! tina was whipping out tutus like it was nobody's business and i set a goal of finishing the 6 denim bags that i had already cut out. well, after a bottle of sangria wine (the fake wine, not anything REAL for you wine connoisseurs) and a LOT of yawning (not to mention a full belly of cake batter) a i got all 6 done! there are 4 grocery bag sized bags and 2 smaller tote-like bags. i think they're kinda cute and they are strong enough to carry an elephant (a pink one!)

and then there is this shirt... tina made herself an adorable apron to wear for the BUFFALO INDIE MARKET THAT IS IN 5 DAYS!!! and sunday evening, after a LONG day outside with my boys, i felt as though i would like to have something to wear that was handmade as well. so i got out my bolt of muslin and starting cutting, and pinning, and trying on, and cutting, and pinning, and trying on, and cutting... you get the picture. after a while i had come up with a pattern for an awfully cute shirt (pretty much like the reversible dresses). it looks huge and unruly in this picture, but it's actually not too bad. it looks much better on... but with how white i have been, and then add on the flaming red sunburn i got sunday, i was not about to be modeling ANYTHING! it looks a little maternity-ish, but hey, that's what you see in the stores these days (right?) to quote my father in law, "at any rate" i think it's cute and doggone it i'm wearing it.
well, i'm turning in early tonight... we have a lot to do this week! i STILL need to get myself to office depot... :)

Welcome babies Isabella Barbara and Jenna Rose!!!

ok, so this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with sewing (other than being my excuse for not doing any tonight!) today, at almost 11:00 am (10:56 and 10:57 to be exact) my very good friends kimmy and tom had beautiful twin baby girls isabella barbara and jenna rose. everyone is doing great! those little babies (each a bit over 5 lbs) are absolute miracles for so many reasons... long story, no time to get into it now. all i know is that i'm not sure anyone on earth is more deserving of these little miracles than kimmy. i'm not gonna lie, standing in children's hospital holding those little peanuts makes me want more!!! alas, i will live vicariously through kimmy... and my friend mo... and erin (more twins)... and vicki (even MORE twins)...and my sister in law christiane... EVERYONE is pregnant!!! i am SO looking forward to the next year and playing with all 47 babies that are due! babies, babies, babies... who doesn't LOVE babies! :)
ok... now this weekend i need to move the focus from babies to sewing... next saturday is getting any farther away!!! SEW SEW SEW!!!

An Angel in a Bonnet

After seeing Caren's beautiful boys on the blog, I thought I would share one of my beauties (in one of my bonnets of course). Abby is such a great model. Everything I put on her turns into a work of art. She just lets me toss 4 different bonnets on her in a row and keeps smiling. That's my girl. Everytime I make a new one I want to keep it for her! Fortunately, I have gotten pretty good at making them quickly so I can whip one out whenever need be. That works well for my requirement of immediate results and overall lack of patience. That is one reason that I love making stuff for babies and kids. I can have a finished product everyday, and with a small amount of fabric! Right now all of my stock is being set aside for the Indie Market. I can't even explain how unreal this all seems to me!

On top of all the sewing I am attempting to get done, I still have these ideas of things I want to paint. So I walk away from the sewing machine for awhile and pick up my brushes. I love the way she turned out. I hope someone has a big empty wall that is ready for a big pink polka dotted giraffe! Everyone has room for one, right?!
